The Ricoh Arena’s first taste of international football will come on Friday 6th October after the home of Coventry City was chosen for England under-21’s crucial European Championship play-off first leg against Germany.
Under-21’s boss Peter Taylor told the FA’s official website: ‘The Ricoh Arena is a magnificent new stadium and the perfect venue for a big match like this.
‘England – Germany is a classic at any level and we know from last year how tough it will be.
‘Germany always produce powerful, well-organised and technically accomplished teams that are very hard to beat.
‘Hopefully with a big, passionate crowd behind us we can get off to a winning start.’
The winners of the two-leg tie will take their place in the finals of the European Championships, to be held in Holland next summer.
