The long-running sage of whether Coventry City will make a loan signing will end one way or another on Thursday as the window for temporary deals closes until January.

Lukas Jutkiewicz is being linked once again with a move to Southampton, a fee of £3m and possible loanees coming the other way being talked about as a sweetener to get the deal done for the table-topping Saints before Thursday’s deadline.

For the Sky Blues the news is once again negative going in to Tuesday night’s clash with Cardiff City as they look to claw back some of the gap between themselves and safety in the Championship.

As upbeat as ever, Andy Thorn told the official club website: ‘We were really disappointed but yesterday morning, the boys have come out and been good so we are really looking forward to tonight.

‘Everything that we have worked on was really high on Saturday and that’s exactly what we need. It was the highest it has been all season and again this morning; I think we are getting back to where we were last season.

‘We know if we keep performing like that, we are going to get a result and then hopefully we can get on a little run.’
