The transfer window opens in 23 days and Vital Coventry is bringing you a new rumour everyday concerning Sky Blues past and present or potential new signings.

9th December: West Ham may be preparing for a January sale given the tight financial constraints currently in place at the club but Craig Bellamy is fast making himself indispensable to manager Gianfranco Zola.

Celtic were reportedly interested in the player, who had a loan spell in Glasgow at the height of his controversial time at Newcastle United and of course who Gordon Strachan signed while Coventry City manager.

The Wales international however has been the subject of high praise from Zola in recent weeks, particularly after the recent game against another of his former clubs Liverpool.

“Craig Bellamy had an awesome performance and he was unlucky not to get a goal,” said the Italian.

“I like him because he`s a threat going forward and he helps the midfield run and chase everybody.

“I think he had something to prove against Liverpool but he does it all the time and as his conditioning gets better he`s going to be even more effective.

‘I`m looking forward to seeing him against Tottenham.”

Signed from Norwich City for £6m to replace Robbie Keane, Bellamy endured one disappointing season at Highfield Road, scoring 6 goals in 34 Premier League appearances.
