Thorn upbeat as City hope for Hammers favour

Coventry City head into Tuesday night’s home game against Millwall still four points behind Bristol City after a second-half turnaround in both teams’ games on Saturday.

The Sky Blues earned a point at Burnley thanks to Clive Platt’s goal while Birmingham’s comeback from two behind prevented Bristol from extending their safety net.

While Millwall are at the Ricoh Arena their fierce rivals West Ham United go to Ashton Gate and, after a 6-0 hammering of Brighton on Saturday should be in high spirits as they look to keep alive their promotion hopes and do City a favour into the bargain.

‘Burnley is never an easy place to come and to have come away with a draw and still be in there with two home games to come is great, we’ve given ourselves a chance,’ said Thorn.

‘We didn’t do a lot wrong, their keeper pulled off some fantastic saves and then it was a poor goal to concede. But we came out in the second half and showed character.

‘We had to change it to get back in it. There was an element of injury with all three players that came off but we needed to make the ball stick more and Platt gives us that option.

‘He is effective off the bench and so it proved. We’ve picked up quite a few injuries but we had to get back into the game and we had to make three substitutions at once to do that.’
