Year In Brief: Inconsistent league form again characterised the year as City subjected their fans to the usual mixed bag of results, often saving their best for the bigger games and then falling foul of the so-called minnows in the Championship.

Top players were sold in the summer but, despite poor crowds, new faces have continued to be brought in while the Sky Blues ended the year with the same man at the helm, making Chris Coleman one of the longer serving bosses in the division as he approaches two years in charge.

High Point: The FA Cup run brought a full house to the Ricoh and a reminder to a wider audience that the Sky Blues still exist! Both performances against Blackburn stand out, with Aron Gunnarsson’s equaliser at Ewood Park bringing the house down.

Home wins over Wolves and Birmingham and the performances of Westwood, Fox, Dann and Best were the other highlights.

Low Point: Despite another year of patience from the fans and consistent claims that a quality squad was being built, December began with an abject defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe which left many wondering whether things would ever get any better.

Brief Encounter: Sunderland loanee Jordan Henderson played his part in the cup run, always seemed to be enjoying his football and went back to the Stadium of Light ready to challenge for a regular first-team place.

Quote Unquote: ‘The biggest thing for me is that I still believe the club is moving forward.

‘The numbers of the squad has reduced and the quality has gone up, as has the value of it, but you only get that with stability, careful planning and by being pro-active.’

Chairman Ray Ranson gives his thoughts on progress at the club two years after taking the helm.
