The opposition view: ‘Brilliant’ Blades?

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson, speaking to his local BBC Radio station after Tuesday night’s game at the Ricoh Arena, clearly felt hard done by that his side had only taken a point, secured by a late equaliser from Blackman after the Sky Blues had taken the lead through Stephen Elliott just after the hour mark.

While the Blades could certainly have felt hard done by had they lost the game after coming close on at least two occasions in the first half, both of those chances came from mistakes by the home side, firstly through a misplaced Reece Brown pass and then when City fell asleep from a free-kick.

After the break it was the hosts who had the better chances, Cody McDonald heading wide and Kevin Malaga being denied after a goalmouth scramble.

A fair assessment of the game can be found in the Yorkshire Post who felt that United ‘dominated’ the first 45 minutes but that the Sky Blues ‘found their feet’ after the break and posed much more of a threat.
