Perhaps the least surprising result of the weekend was Leamington’s defeat away to Stockport County on Saturday given that the Brakes had travelled to Spennymoor in the North-East on Thursday, a game that was delayed because of a bad journey, returning home in the wee small hours before having to get back on the coach for the trip to Edgeley Park.

Nuneaton’s scheduled home clash with York City was postponed due to international call-ups.

This week, Nuneaton are away to Curzon Ashton on Monday evening and at Alfreton on Saturday, Leamington host FC United of Manchester on Saturday.

Both Bedworth United and Stratford Town gained excellent away wins in their respective divisions, Bedworth scoring five at Market Drayton to maintain an automatic promotion place.

They host Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday, Stratford are at home to Hitchin Town on Tuesday and Kings Lynn Town on Saturday.

In the Midland League Premier, Saturday’s game of the day for local interest is between Coventry Sphinx and Rugby Town while Coventry United are also at home.
