Both Nuneaton Town and Leamington were in National League North action at the weekend with contrasting fortunes.

Nuneaton picked up a vital three points with a 1-0 win away at fellow strugglers Gainsborough Trinity and now sit 15th in the table but Leamington`s 2-0 reverse at Southport saw them leapfrogged by their hosts with the Brakes 17th and just two points off the drop zone.

Both teams are again on the road this coming Saturday, Nuneaton at AFC Telford United and Leamington away to Alfreton Town.

Stratford Town dug deep to hold promotion-chasing Weymouth to a goalless draw in the Southern League Premier, manager Carl Adams praising a big effort from his team just days after another tough test against Hereford.

Stratford have a midweek trip to Basingstoke before a home game against Hitchin Town at the weekend.

The game of the day in the region came at The Oval where Bedworth United hosted Basford United, the two teams currently at the top of the Northern Premier League First Division South, albeit Basford are well clear.

Unbeaten in the league so far this season, Basford came mighty close to losing that record before a 95th minute equaliser earned them a point.

Bedworth travel to Cleethorpes Town this coming weekend.

In the Midland League Premier Division, there were wins for Coventry Sphinx and Rugby Town but defeat for Coventry United.

Both Sphinx and Rugby have home matches this Saturday.
