The poll currently running on Vital Coventry asks whether it was right to drop Stern John for last week’s game at Crystal Palace and at the time of writing 80% of readers think it was not.

Leon McKenzie partnered Kevin Kyle at Selhurst Park despite John being the matchwinner against Leeds the previous week.

Whether he was being punished for a sulky reaction to being subbed that day or whether Micky Adams simply felt that McKenzie and Kyle were a partnership better suited to taking on Palace is unknown.

There has been talk of City trying to offload John as he is in the final year of his contract but despite the T&T man’s detractors, his Sky Blue strike rate of 24 goals in 54 league starts is a decent one and he remains our most potent goal threat at present.

  • i hope he is back but with Kyle. Stern is undoubtedly quality and if we play to his strength, on the ground, he will do the rest. A goal virtually every other game speaks for it’s self

  • Sure thing ‘roberts’. You can’t ignore quality when it comes along at this level and Stern John Stern John (so good they named him twice) is just that.
