Stanley Storm It – Will City Play Them Next Year?

|

The first promotion/relegation issues of the 2017/18 League Two season has been decided with Accrington Stanley confirmed as going up following their victory against Yeovil on Tuesday evening.

It is a well-deserved promotion for a club who by many indicators should be closer to the foot of the table than the top but who have put together a superb run in 2018 to get over the line before many more fancied teams.

Stanley offer a warm welcome to away supporters and also have a chairman who has not been afraid to take on both the EFL and the Premier League, the latter over the huge financial imbalance that exists within the English game.

Will Coventry City be playing them again next season?

Another of Tuesday evening’s results saw Lincoln City edge past the Sky Blues on goal difference after a goalless draw against Wycombe Wanderers in the Imps` game in hand.

Coventry and Lincoln now occupy the final two play-off places and both have a game in hand over 8th-placed Mansfield Town who are one point worse off.

The potential spanner in the works is that that game in hand sees the Sky Blues and the Imps meet each other at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday.
