The summer of speculation over the future of George Thomas was finally ended on Tuesday morning as the 20-year-old left Coventry City to join Premier League club Leicester City.
It marks a move ‘home’ for the player, born in Leicester although a Wales international at youth level, and potentially a huge opportunity to make his mark in the top-flight.
Having plenty of first-team experience under his belt already will help in that regard and the impression given is that Thomas will be competing for a senior spot in the Foxes squad rather than be confined to the development ranks although there is plenty of competition in that regard.
His time with the Sky Blues, having come through the academy, will always be remembered for this moment…

It’s a sign of what a well-balanced, professional person Thomas seems to be (it’s always hard to tell of course but his manner, his social media profile, his commitment on the pitch) that his move has generated lots of ‘good luck’ comments from City supporters.
We’ll add our own here at Vital Coventry.
