In what was a very disappointing performance especially in the first half, Coventry City were well beaten 3-0 by Ipswich Town.

After looking bright during the opening moments of the game, a well-delivered cross from Cresswell caught out the usually unflappable Martin Cranie, his header ending up in his own net.

Short of confidence before the game, Ipswich took heart and were soon turning on the style. Chopra could have scored either side of Andrews’ excellent goal as the home side’s big name players finally came good.

Andy Thorn had seen enough to make a change before half-time, taking young midfielder Gael Bigirimana out of the firing line and was rewarded with City’s best spell of the opening 45 minutes as Cody McDonald was denied a first goal for the club by a clearing header off the line.

Although creating chances in the second-half, notably through Cody McDonald, City had no answer to Lee Bowyer and Jimmy Bullard who ran the game.

The team now have to re-group and be ready for the visit this Saturday of Reading.
