‘Training has gone up a level. Everyone is flying so I think we are capable of getting three points anywhere.’

Andy Thorn was in bullish mood when interviewed ahead of Saturday’s teatime kick-off for Coventry City against Derby County at the Ricoh Arena.

New signing Cody McDonald is set to play a part in the game while Thorn also has Gary McSheffrey back as an option to potentially replace David Bell, who came off injured in City’s last game at Middlesbrough but is now fit again.

For the visitors, boss Nigel Clough is looking for a response after their good start to the season was halted by Burnley last time out.

He told his club’s official website: ‘In the Championship it is important not to lose two on the spin, so that’s the priority going into tomorrow’s game.

‘We know how easy it is to quickly find yourself on the back of three, or even four, defeats in this league.

‘We need to go to Coventry and do what we did in the first four games, which was give nothing away.

‘Do we lose two or three on the spin, or do we stop the rot straight away? We will soon find out.’
