Speaking after Coventry City’s 4-1 win at Barnsley on the opening day of the season, both managers agreed that the first-half and early part of the second had seen the times well matched.

‘I felt that for an hour we played well and we finished the stronger side in the first half,’ said Barnsley boss Simon Davey.

‘Barnsley were very competitive in the first half and it’s not an easy place to come to,’ added Iain Dowie.

The Sky Blues ended the game however in total control and could even have scored more.

‘It’s not acceptable the way they caved in and the players have been told that,’ said Davey.

‘When their second went in we caved in a bit. We lost a bit of heart.’
