Coventry City have agreed a deal to sign Livingston defender James McPake next year, either when his contract expires in the summer or in January if a fee can be agreed between the two clubs.

Vital Coventry forum regulars have started the following thread on City signings from north of the border.

For every Kevin Gallacher, snapped up from Dundee United for £900,000 in 1990 and a big fans favourite, there has been at least one Eoin Jess, who made little impact following his £1.75m switch from Aberdeen in 1996.

So will McPake be a tartan bargain in the mould of Ian Wallace (signed for £75,000 from Dumbarton in 1976) or will he sink without trace like Dougie McGuire, who managed barely an appearance after joining from Celtic in 1988?
