Sky Blues round-up

Having seen Andy Thorn engineer a dramatic upturn in fortunes during his short time in charge of Coventry City means that the post-season period at the Ricoh Arena has been a lot quieter and more positive than it may otherwise have been if the club’s financial and playing freefall had continued.

The financial wood is still hidden by plenty of trees of course but a triple dose of good news has come out of the club over the past week or so.

Season ticket sales have reached nearly 7,000 after a positive marketing campaign, Thorn has been told his budget for next season will match that given to Aidy Boothroyd last summer and the transfer embargo placed on the Sky Blues has been lifted.

Contract talks with Marlon King are ongoing and Thorn has a ‘good feeling’ about that deal while rumours about new signings are beginning to come in with League Two stars Cody McDonald (on loan at Gillingham last season), Clayton Donaldson (Crewe Alexandra) and Danny Green (Dagenham & Redbridge) all being linked.

Saturday’s Women’s FA Cup final at the Ricoh Arena attracted a crowd of 13,885 as Arsenal defeated Bristol Academy.
