– Coventry City are being linked with a move for Sunderland striker Kevin Kyle. The 25-year-old Scotland international has suffered from a number of injury problems over the past couple of seasons but is back to full fitness now.

Any deal may hinge on whether Sunderland can land former Sky Blues target Geoff Horsfield while the Black Cats are also keen on ex-City star Calum Davenport.

– Another player linked with a move to the Ricoh Arena is Fulham’s Zesh Rehman, who can play either in defence or midfield.

– Graham Barrett, released by City at the end of last season, has signed a two-year deal with SPL side Falkirk.

The Irish international was on loan at Livingston last season but suffered a serious knee injury.

Falkirk boss John Hughes said: ‘We’ve been chasing Graham for a while so we’re delighted to have him.

‘He has maybe lost his way a bit due to injury and bad luck but we are offering him the chance to resurrect his career at a good level.’

– Another former Sky Blues man handed a deal in the SPL is Noel Whelan who has signed a one-year deal with Dunfermline.
