Coventry City kept up their commitment to attacking football under caretaker manager Andy Thorn to roar into a two goal lead at Pride Park on Saturday.

Gunnarsson and King did the damage but a four minute spell before half-time saw Davies and Savage bring the home side level.

That was the way it stayed meaning that both sides still need a couple more points to banish all thoughts of relegation with the Sky Blues now nine points above the drop zone and with a vastly superior goal difference to the bottom three sides.

“We played some terrific stuff today and even at 2-2 I said we are not settling for this, let’s have a proper go even if we win 6-4,” was Thorn’s verdict.

“The attitude and application for 85 minutes was bang on but we had a five-minute sloppy spell and got punished. But we gave a great account of ourselves.”
