Coventry City are one of a number of clubs monitoring Southampton striker Leon Best as he approaches the end of his contract at St Mary’s.

Saints have offered the 20-year-old a new deal but after making just 10 appearances to date for the South Coast club he is thought to be weighing up his options.

Best has Championship experience from loan spells with QPR and Sheffield Wednesday and has netted 13 goals this season during spells with Bournemouth and Yeovil.

Compensation would be due to Southampton if the player was to leave in the summer.
