The final home match of a wretched league season for Coventry City sees Walsall visit the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon.

With relegation to League Two confirmed, the game on the pitch is more about a penultimate opportunity for the Sky Blues players to convince manager Mark Robins about their suitability for the 2017/18 campaign.

It will also be the final home fixture of what could yet be the penultimate season at the Ricoh itself, given the uncertainty that remains over where the club will be playing in the future.

This weeks takeover talk, albeit with the offers from the Gary Hoffman-led consortium having been quickly turned down, has at least sparked some hope that there is someone out there who can make a credible offer that persuades SISU to sell.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph on Friday, Mr Hoffman said: ‘We are very confident we could do a long-term deal to keep Coventry City in it’s home town.

‘We’re very confident we could do the right commercial deals around that to put investment into the club on a sustainable basis so that we can get promotion to League One and then the Championship in a stable and sustained way.’
