‘We won’t be taking the game lightly at all. We want to win through it’s as simple as that.

‘Whatever team I put out, it will be one that I feel will go and get us a result.’

Mark Robins’ pre-match confidence was more than justified as Coventry City defeated their non-league opponents to make it into the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Plenty of reporters were in attendance at the Ricoh Arena, hoping to see if Arlesey could pull off a shock but City were relatively comfortable throughout although the scoreline meant they could not relax fully until the closing stages.

The Sky Blues were without in-form striker David McGoldrick as the Nottingham Forest man was denied permission to play by his parent club but fellow forward Callum Ball got the all important opening goal just before the half-hour mark.

Cyrus Christie made it two with just over an hour gone and from that moment it was one way traffic as Arlesey tired. Goalkeeper Nathan Abbey did his utmost to keep the score down before Steven Jennings wrapped the game up in the final minutes.
