Coventry City’s form, which had taken a downturn in March, nosedived completely in April and sealed the fate of manager Chris Coleman.

Easter weekend brought few treats for Sky Blues’ fans as Derby won at the Ricoh Arena and Reading romped to victory two days later in Berkshire.

A narrow defeat at Sheffield United was followed by uneventful draws against Preston and Middlesbrough.

The worst was saved for last however as Watford hammered four goals past a shambolic and spineless home side.

‘There were no positives,’ said Coleman.

‘It was an embarrassing end to the season.

‘It is not good enough and I apologise. If I had been a supporter, I would have gone before the end.’

The end was nigh however and and Coleman was gone within days.
