As a temporary diversion from Easter Monday’s huge relegation clash for Coventry City at Ashton Gate, Vital Coventry enjoyed this article on the BBC Sport website, written after a blistering start to life in the Premier League by Newcastle’s new signing Papiss Cisse.

With nine goals in his first eight games Cisse joins Sergio Aguero of Manchester City and is one ahead of Alan Shearer’s start to life as a Blackburn Rovers player.

Beating them all however is a 30-year-old striker, loaned to Coventry City from Newcastle United with a view to a permanent deal in late 1992.

Bobby Gould’s masterstroke of signing Micky Quinn paid off in spades as the portly frontman, resplendent in City’s Ribero kit, netted ten goals in his first eight games for the club.
