The Sky Blues first game of the month sees them turn in their best display of the season to date with a 3-0 win against Norwich City.

Kevin Kyle and Stern John combine well in attack.

Just three days later though and a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich highlights the inconsistency of Micky Adams side.

‘Ipswich took their chances, we didn’t. We failed to live up to the standard we showed against Norwich on Saturday,’ says the City boss afterwards.

‘To do well in this league you must be very consistent. We have new faces and must find out about each other quickly.

‘We knew it would be difficult but I was disappointed with how we conceded.’

John scores an excellent winner against Leeds but the month ends with defeats away to Crystal Palace and at home to a well-organised Plymouth Argyle side.

An approach from West Bromwich Albion to talk to Adams about the vacant manager’s role at The Hawthorns is rejected.

Managing director Paul Fletcher says in a statement: ‘Micky Adams is an important part of this club and an integral part of our plans.’
