Coventry City host Scunthorpe United on Saturday hoping to avenge defeat at Glanford Park in early December in what will probably go down as the low point of the Sky Blues’ season.

Fortunes have turned around since then for the boys from CV6 and it is towards the top-half of the table that Chris Coleman is looking as another hard slog of a Championship season comes to an end.

Scunthorpe meanwhile are keeping their heads above water in a bid to maintain their league status, going unbeaten in three games since their hammering at Leicester.

‘A lot of teams are on a good run,’ said boss Nigel Adkins after the midweek draw against Ipswich.

‘Every game is going to be massive we know that, we are well aware of that and as long as we can keep competing it’s a game of inches as we keep saying.’

Defender Cliff Byrne meanwhile told the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph: ‘We have got some momentum again to take with us now to Coventry on Saturday.

‘We will be going there looking for three points, but we will accept just the one if we have to.

‘The games are continuing to come thick and fast and at the moment we seem to be playing teams we feel we can get something against.’
