Alan Knill feels his side are on the up at the bottom of the Championship as he plots a great escape from relegation just weeks after taking over at Glanford Park.

The former Bury manager has already seen his side beat champions-elect Queens Park Rangers and main relegation rivals Crystal Palace to cut the gap on the Eagles to just three points ahead of Good Friday’s trip to the Ricoh Arena to face a similarly enthused Coventry City side.

‘Six weeks ago everyone was telling me they’re the worst side they had ever seen,’ said Knill after the Palace triumph.

‘I’m delighted with the players.

‘And it just shows what you can do with hard work.’
