Coventry City aim to build on their positive start to the season when they face the first of two tough away games in the space of four days.

Micky Adams continues to keep his squad on their toes by signing new players. Adam Virgo has joined on a season-long loan from Celtic while an offer for Ipswich striker Sam Parkin has been turned down.

Southampton, like the Sky Blues, have been busy in the transfer market this summer and new-boy Bradley Wright-Phillips was one of their goalscorers in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Derby County.

Vital Quotes:

City defender David McNamee told ccfc.co.uk: “We are expecting six points and that is the bottom line. We are looking to win every game we can.”

Saints forward Bradley Wright-Phillips told his club’s official website: “We have got two home games coming up and we want to get six points from them.

‘If we can get seven out of nine points you can`t complain but we have got the hard work to do on the training field.”

Southampton Team News:

Saints skipper Claus Lundekvam was stretchered off during Sunday`s clash with Derby and although his injury is not as bad as first feared he is unlikely to play against the Sky Blues.

Ricardo Fuller is also out injured so Wright-Phillips may start.

Player to watch: Gareth Bale

Big things are expected of the full-back, the youngest ever player to be capped by Wales.

Bale is set to be a first-team regular this season and scored an excellent free-kick against Derby on Sunday.

Coventry City Team News:

New signing Adam Virgo is eligible to play while Colin Cameron could also come into contention after completing a one-match suspension held over from last season.

Player to watch: Dele Adebola

So crucial to City’s excellent second-half of last season, Adebola was off the pace against Sunderland on Sunday.

Match Facts & Stats

The two sides have met once at St Mary’s, towards the end of last season when late goals by Gregorz Rasiak and Don Hutchison ensured a share of the spoils.
