Owen Hargreaves will look to get his Manchester United career up and running in the League Cup tie against Coventry City on Wednesday.
The £17m signing from Bayern Munich has been troubled by a thigh problem since joining the Reds.
‘Owen Hargreaves is in training and improving all the time, he’s in contention for Coventry,’ said Sir Alex Ferguson, who has named a squad containing a number of fringe players but which also includes Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha.
He added: ‘Gary Neville has joined first team training, but the Coventry game will be too early for him. We’ll be looking at 7-10 days.’
