Robins Fumes…But Believes Better To Come

|

Mark Robins’ post-match comments after Coventry City’s 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Rochdale on Saturday afternoon clearly showed his ‘annoyance’ at what he felt should have been a comfortable victory for the Sky Blues but the manager himself realised that the cold light of Monday morning will see him taking plenty of positives from the performance.

Not making the opposition goalkeeper work hard enough during a dominant first-half display was Robins’ main frustration while the nature of the Rochdale goal also drew his wrath against one or two of his players.

But after the (second) deadline day of the summer saw him land long-term target Conor Chaplin from Portsmouth, the Sky Blues supremo believes he has got a ‘strong, strong’ together that will click in time and move City up the League One table.

Those who did not feature at the weekend have two chances to earn a spot in front of the television cameras against Oxford United next Sunday as City have Under-23 fixtures at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday and at Barnsley on Friday.
