The inevitable has been confirmed and Mark Robins has been named as the new manager of Huddersfield Town on Thursday morning.

Lee Carsley and Steve Ogrizovic have been placed in temporary charge of the Sky Blues after the departure of Robins and first-team coach Steve Taylor.

The club have expressed their ‘disappointment’ at the departure of a man they gave a three-year contract to and backed with a ‘considerable financial commitment’ in terms of signings.

Speaking at his first press call in West Yorkshire, Robins said: “I spoke to the owner, I sought assurances and didn’t get any assurances from the owner of Coventry.

“I absolutely wish them all the best, they work their socks off and as I’ve said before that club needs support from Coventry City Council.

“That led to a decision to want to speak with Huddersfield and that’s how the decision has been arrived at.”
