Robins Clears A Space On The Shelves

|

The days when the Manager of the Month would take home a bottle of whisky may be gone but Mark Robins will surely need to clear a space on the shelves after his Coventry City side made it five league wins in a row against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Although October began with a home defeat at the hands of Portsmouth it has ended with the Sky Blues just outside the League One play-off places, scoring goals regularly and seemingly full of confidence that there are no teams in League One who they should be fearful of.

Saturday’s victory showed two sides to the City as they created a host of first-half chances, scoring two excellent goals, before withstanding an onslaught from Doncaster after the break with some last-ditch defending and brave goalkeeping keeping the visitors down to a single strike.

“It was an amazing performance, amazing work rate,” said a delighted Robins after the game.

“There was a desire to win. When you’re in front like that, you know the opposition is going to come at you, especially when you’re tired it gives the opposition a lift.”

Another Ricoh Arena home date awaits this Saturday when Accrington Stanley are the visitors.
