Coventry City have all but finalised their pre-season plans, with one game left to arrange on Saturday 29 July, a week before the start of the Championship season.

According to the Evening Telegraph this is set to be a high profile home game and hopefully City will be able to attract a top club from Europe for what will really be the official opening of the Ricoh Arena.

The race against time to get the stadium opened last season meant the Sky Blues’ first game in it was a league match against QPR with a reduced capacity of 23,000.

Although it felt more and more like home in the second-half of the season, a game against a big name with plenty of old City stars on the pitch beforehand would be good.

  • Word on the streets are that they have lined up Arsenal for this game. Leicester have a friendly agains’t Real Sociadad

  • be a good game if it was arsenal should be a full house, but it will proberly be a over seas team

  • In terms of European oposition, like you say with Leicester around that time, we (Hull City) are playing Athletic Bilbao.

  • Wouldn’t you rather have a meaningful game the week before the season starts? Rather than a knock a bout.
