A deal to allow Coventry City FC owners SISU to purchase a share in the Ricoh Arena, which appears to hold the key not just to the club’s long-term future but also the short-term priority of getting the transfer embargo lifted, remains a long way off according to the Coventry Telegraph.

After a week of relatively positive news surrounding the club (on Vital Coventry we commented that the offer of an interim season ticket price was a good piece of PR) it seems the outlook is just as gloomy as predicted with the Higgs Charity describing the initial offer for their share as ‘not acceptable in several respects’.

The club it seems is continuing to withhold its rental payments and, with no further talks planned according to the City Council the upbeat talk of new signings being ready to come in once the embargo is lifted may yet turn out to be another false dawn.
