Colchester United host Coventry City on Saturday in what will be their penultimate fixture at Layer Road.

Manager Geraint Williams hopes that will be an incentive for his side, already relegated from the Championship, to win the game.

He told BBC Radio Essex: ‘It’s up to the players and the staff to build it up inside and then during the game we hope the fans will build it up because it’s their last two opportunities to bring these walls down before they are actually brought down.’

More than pride is at stake for the Sky Blues, who will be hoping that Michael Mifsud breaks his goal drought at a crucial stage of the season.

Manager Chris Coleman told the Coventry Telegraph: ‘When he’s on form he’s such a thorn in the opposition’s side because he is so quick and dangerous and we have got to make sure we get the best out of Michael in the last few games, as we will with all the players.

‘I think the fact that he hasn’t scored for such a long time is affecting his decision making.

‘He is not as fluent and is maybe thinking too hard about things and trying too hard to score or releasing a pass too early.

‘But he is trying and that’s important and I think everyone realises that.’
