Cardiff City manager Dave Jones say Jay Bothroyd help sink his former club on Tuesday and was delighted for the ex-Coventry City man.

‘He should have got a second with the header but he’s getting in the right positions now,’ Jones said.

‘Before he was (shooting) outside the posts rather than inside them so we’ll keep working on that.’

Jones also agreed with the decision to allow a Freddy Eastwood goal in the second-half.

He admitted: ‘The turning point was probably when the referee came back and disallowed the (Coventry) goal, which was the right decision and we all agree with that.

‘I think Chris (Coleman)’s beef was that the linesman didn’t keep his flag up and thought he was going to wave for offside, but it was handball.’

Coleman did not talk to the press afterwards, perhaps for fear of another hefty fine.

Number two Steve Kean told BBC C & W: ‘It was a good goal, good finish and we are disappointed that it never stood.’
