The Guardian is reporting that Portsmouth are set to enter administration for a second time with a 10-point penalty likely to follow for the Fratton Park club.
Such a move would breathe new life into a relegation battle that has previously seen bottom trio Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Rovers and the Sky Blues with a gap to make up on the sides above them.
A 10-point punishment would see Portsmouth drop to 25 points based on the table ahead of Tuesday night’s games, level with Forest, one ahead of Doncaster and three above City.
***Update***
The application for an administration order has been confirmed by the club with that most likely to go through on Friday.
