Plymouth Argyle host Coventry City at Home Park this Saturday in another important game at the foot of the Championship and are in upbeat mood despite their precarious position just one place off the foot of the table.

Paul Mariner took charge of the Pilgrims for the first time at Preston last weekend and his new 4-3-1-2 formation got the thumbs-up from his side.

Although Preston raced into an early lead, Argyle impressed after the break and midfielder Chris Clark told the Plymouth Herald: ‘We have got to take our second half performance against Preston into that game, and be positive.

‘The fans will be behind us – they always are.’

News broke on Tuesday of a transfer embargo being placed on the club but they are confident it will not affect any dealings planned for the January window.

The Sky Blues meanwhile will be hoping to fare better than their last visit to Devon when four quickfire goals for the home side meant that the game was all over by the break.
