Paul Mariner has been critical of his Plymouth Argyle side’s defending in recent weeks and hopes that the loan signing of Bondz N’Gala from West Ham United will do the trick for Saturday’s trip to the Ricoh Arena.

Described as a ‘very strong, uncompromising defender’ by the Pilgrims boss, the Hammers youngster is set for a start in CV6 as Plymouth look to begin an unlikely Great Escape bid.

Zimbabwean international Onismor Bhasera
has also been snapped up by Mariner but has yet to be issued with a visa or international clearance.

Despite an improvement in performance since his appointment as manager, Mariner’s side have not won in their last five games.

‘We can’t do anything about yesterday,’ he told BBC Devon. ‘We can do a lot about the future and today.

‘The good thing about games coming fast is that you can put it right quickly, so we aim to put it right on Saturday.’
