Wednesday’s Coventry City rumour mill surrounds two players whose contracts with their respective clubs expire next summer and who, with less than 12 months remaining on their current deals, hold all the aces in the transfer market.
Long-time Sky Blues target Richard Wood is believed to be the subject of a formal offer from the Ricoh Arena for a loan move from Sheffield Wednesday with a permanent deal to follow in January.
Former Owls skipper Wood has turned down a new Hillsborough deal and his next destination appears to come down to staying in the Championship with Coventry or dropping into League Two but boosting his wage packet at Notts County.
What Chris Coleman may gain on contract roulette he may have taken away with the other hand.
Celtic are the latest club to be linked with in-form striker Leon Best.

I can’t see us being in a position to offer significantly more than Wednesday have. Maybe a change of scene is what he is after. I’d certainly like to see us sign him.
wonder if Wood is any better than we have and where would it leave McPake
