After seeing his West Ham United side suffer a promotion blip over the festive period, Sam Allardyce hopes the return of some key players will boost his team in time for Monday’s sold-out Upton Park clash against a resurgent Coventry City.

Speaking to the official Hammers website after defeat at Derby on New Year’s Eve, Allardyce said: ‘We’ve got Sam Baldock back who has come off the bench and got a game, we’ve got Carlton Cole fit and four players coming back from suspension for Monday.

‘That will make us better.’

The game is a quick rematch from the Ricoh Arena fixture from 19 November in which the Sky Blues held the lead for a large part of the game but were eventually overpowered by a strong Hammers side.
