A 2-1 win against Manchester City at Highfield Road 17 years ago today meant that for the first time in 106 years, Coventry City were at the summit of English football, as leaders of Division One.

The Sky Blues went into the midweek clash with two wins and one defeat to their name and fell behind to an early goal by David White.

Boss John Sillett inspired a second-half turnaround however, with Micky Gynn and then in the last minute David Smith scoring the goals that gave us all three points.

An international break meant City could enjoy their lofty position for 10 days, before crashing down to earth with a bump at Milllwall where they lost 4-1.
