Coventry City hosted Norwich City on this day fourteen years ago with both sides flying high in the newly-formed FA Premier League.

The Sky Blues came into the game on the back of two successive live Sky TV matches, beating Tottenham 1-0 and drawing 1-1 at Nottingham Forest.

Boss Bobby Gould again went with an attacking formation, partnering Robert Rosario with Kevin Gallacher and including wingers Peter Ndlovu and John Williams.

Williams, a summer signing from Swansea and the fastest man in the league had captured the headlines to date, but it was Ndlovu who was to shine in this match, equalising Ian Crook’s early goal with a superb run and dummy of the keeper.

The game ended 1-1 and the Sky Blues continued to perform above expectations for much of the season, especially when defeating Liverpool then Aston Villa over Christmas with new hero Micky Quinn on the mark four times.

The sales of Rosario and Gallacher however led to a sharp dip in form towards the end of the campaign.
