Old boys reunion?

A number of ex-Coventry City players have been linked with a return to the fold since the end of the season.

Vital Coventry looks at a few of the Sky Blues alumni on the market.

David Thompson – A free agent after the expiry of his Wigan Athletic contract.

Made 72 appearances for the Sky Blues between 2000 and 2002 and was one of the few bright lights of the first season after relegation, when he scored 13 goals.

City could certainly use a right-sided midfielder but Thommo has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.

Gary Breen – Another player without a club after being released by Sunderland.

Breen made 171 appearances for City between 1997 and 2002.

A new centre-half is on Micky Adams’ shopping list but Breen wants to stay in the top-flight and his departure from City after relegation was not completely harmonious.

Calum Davenport – Davenport has found it tough going since leaving his local club for Tottenham Hotspur in 2004 after 84 appearances in a Sky Blue shirt.

He has made only one start for Spurs since then and been loaned out three times.

Is under contract though and there is no way City could afford a permanent deal while Davenport will surely not want to go out on loan again.
