Not a loan but a permanent Ranger?

Newcastle United’s 21-year-old forward Nile Rangers has been linked with Coventry City by Wednesday morning’s Mirror which says the controversial striker is also still on the radar of Sheffield Wednesday after a loan spell at Hillsborough last season.

Ranger was part of the Owls squad as they gained promotion from League One but his displays didn’t mark him out for Wednesday fans as a must-buy players this summer.

Left out of Newcastle’s squad for their pre-season trip to Germany it appears that Rangers is approaching a crucial moment in his career if he is to live up to its early promise.

He has also been linked with Norwich City this summer so a move to the Ricoh Arena, if it came to fruition, would be a positive sign of City’s intent even if Andy Thorn may have his hands full with a player who has been involved in a number of off-field incidents.
