Coventry City’s mini-revival under Mark Robins already seems a long way away after the Sky Blues suffered a second league defeat in succession on Tuesday night as Brentford gained a dramatic late victory at Griffin Park.
City again squandered a lead, given to them early on by the in-form David McGoldrick, but were set to leave West London with a point when the hosts were awarded a stoppage time penalty.
Harry Forrester netted his second goal of the game to leave the Sky Blues in the relegation zone of League One.
Robins had shuffled his pack before the game, starting with Chris Hussey in place of Carl Baker and recalling Steven Jennings. Baker entered the fray at half-time for Hussey before Kevin Kilbane and Cody McDonald also joined the game as second-half substitutes.
An echo of some of last season’s awayday heartbreak for City’s long suffering travelling fans. Another big support will be back in London for the game at Leyton Orient on Saturday hoping that their side can bounce back.
