No City deals yet for duo

In what is fast becoming a rather boring saga, Marlon King is again being linked with a move to Coventry City.

Newspaper reports, which bear the hallmarks of the player’s agent, have reported on ‘talks’ being held between player and club but Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd has again clearly stated that although he maintains regular contact with his former Watford striker, any potential deal is currently on the back burner.

Similarly, despite promptings from the player involved through the press, Boothroyd is not rushing to make a decision on trialist Francis Laurent, a free agent after leaving Southend United.

‘There are still players I’d like to bring in and they fall into two categories – core players and players you want to develop,’ Boothroyd told the Coventry Telegraph.

‘Francis is in the development category. I think over time he could be a terrific player for us, but I don’t think he’s ready to burst on to the scene right now.

‘And I have to prioritise – look for the guys who can get us up the league this season rather than the ones who might win it for us next year.’

Well aware that Premier League clubs will shortly have to name their 25-man squads to take them through to January and with the transfer deadline still two weeks away, Boothroyd has plenty of other potential options to sift through before chasing down deals for King and Laurent.
