Assistant manager Steve Harrison stepped in for the unwell Andy Thorn as Coventry City lost 2-0 at Leicester on Saturday but the after-match refrain was very familiar to Sky Blues fans.
‘It was a strange game,’ he said after the Foxes had eased to victory to keep their visitors firmly rooted in the bottom three.
‘We had a good chance to score early on and for the first 15 minutes we did very well, but then we lost our way a bit.
After they scored we climbed our way back in. We came up with a game-plan for the second half but then gave away a bad goal and that was the nail in the coffin, really.
We had our chances but we didn’t really defend well enough. We showed a bit of naivety and we have got to learn sooner, rather than later.’
‘Sooner rather than later’ indeed as the same problems have afflicted City all season and there are now only a dozen games left to save their skins in the Championship.
Home boss Nigel Pearson thought his men were good value for the three points.
‘I thought we dominated the game for long periods.
‘Even when they went down to 10 men they showed great composure. It was a good win today.’
