Steve Cotterill may be leaving Notts County but he is unlikely to be coming to the Ricoh Arena according to the latest speculation about who will be the next Coventry City manager.

The first real plunge on the betting market to succeed Chris Coleman has come late on in the process on a name not yet mentioned as being in the frame.

The Sky Blues have reportedly asked Colchester United for permission to speak to Aidy Boothroyd with a view to the former Watford manager returning to the Championship.

Cotterill held talks with City on Monday but has not been offered the job and his future is currently unclear as his short-term Meadow Lane contract expires soon.

Bookmakers are reporting a ‘substantial gamble’ on Boothroyd taking the job.
