Never mind the quality

It was all about the three points for Coventry City on Saturday after a monumental effort from the club’s backroom staff, stewards and volunteers saw the game against Barnsley go-ahead.

And none of the home fans who made it to the Ricoh Arena will mind too much about what Chris Coleman called City’s ‘worst’ display for six weeks, after a 3-1 win that has the Sky Blues looking upwards in the Championship rather than at the trap door.

‘For the first 15 minutes we were nowhere near the pace,’ said the boss.

‘We went down the other end and scored two so at half-time we told them that we had to improve even though we were two-up.

‘They scored and that made us nervous.’

Opposite number Mark Robins commented: ‘We created enough chances to get something from the game if not win it but it’s just a small matter of putting the ball in the back of the net.’
