Andy Morrell scored his first goal for Blackpool at the weekend, earning the Tangerines a point from their game against Oldham.

The result left Blackpool without a win in six games, and Morrell said afterwards: ‘We have to hang in there, work really hard, and hopefully things will turn around soon.’

Gary McSheffrey has yet to score for new club Birmingham City but his contribution to their recent good form has been praised by boss Steve Bruce.

Bruce said: ‘I had a word with Gary after Saturday’s game and his effort, industry and work-rate have been absolutely staggering.

‘He just needs a goal for himself but his contribution to the team has been excellent.

‘He made another goal against Ipswich. He has now six ‘assists’ to his credit. I can’t ask for any more than that and the goals will come.’

  • Morrell will always do a job I don’t think he got a shot at it at Coventry so we will never know if he can do it at a higher league, McSheffrey can do it at any level but I still think it was a good bit of move for Coventry City to let him go, he played under 4 managers at Coventry and he never was put up front for a run.
